Do It Yourself - Chopping Block
Step 2a

Using a table saw, we ripped our wood into 3" thick by 24" long pieces. Remember to wear safety glasses.

Step 2b Before gluing, all the wood was lined up to with some alternating color patterns to see which scheme looked the nicest.
Step 2c Lay all wood on a flat and smooth surface with the "top side" facing down. (We used a 3' x 3' sheet of plastic on a hard surface so the glue would not stick to the plastic). Apply ample amounts of glue, you can always wipe away the excess.
Step 2d

Begin clamping the wood. Start on one end and work your way towards the other. The wood will want to slip around due to the very low friction caused by the glue, so keep everything lined up. It would be in your best interest to keep the "top" side of the block as flat as possible so that you don't have to plane to much excess wood later on.

Step 2e Let the glue dry for at least one week.
Six clamps + Elmer's wood glue.

This is the "bottom" side of the chopping block. Any wood with knots or inperfections were strategically placed here.
